About
I live in Washington, DC and am a digital strategist and writer. In my day job, I am Social Media Manager at Travel Channel. In my spare time, I’m also a freelance writer, and my work has been published in The American Prospect Online, the Washington Post online, Huffington Post, Jezebel, NPR.org, Politics Daily, Ms. Magazine, and the European Courier. I have contributed regularly to Mediaite.com, CitizenJanePolitics.com, and Lemondrop.com in the past. I also previously worked on marketing strategy at New Media Strategies.
I’m interested in how new media is changing old media. Less broadly, I’m interested in journalism, media, culture, entertainment, and how the web — especially social media — impacts and changes all of those things. I also have a strong interest in women’s issues and women’s rights.
In my writing, I frequently cover women’s issues, politics, media/culture, and social media. I also speak frequently at conferences and other events on these topics. I have spoken at numerous PR and social media conferences, as well as South by Southwest Interactive.
I’m originally from the Chicago area and have a BA in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
